Set up Wishlist Hero on your store

This guide walks you through installing Wishlist Hero, turning on the wishlist button, and confirming the first wishlist activity reaches your dashboard. You need about 15 minutes and a Shopify admin login. No code changes are required for most themes.

Before you start

• A Shopify store where you can install apps
• Access to Online Store > Themes in your Shopify admin
• A theme Wishlist Hero supports: Online Store 2.0 themes such as Dawn work out of the box, and many vintage themes install automatically

1. Install the app

Install Wishlist Hero from the Shopify App Store. When the install finishes, the app opens in your Shopify admin and sets itself up in the background:

• Your store record is created and your plan trial starts
• The wishlist snippets are installed on your current theme automatically
• The required theme app embed is flagged for activation

2. Enable the app embed

The app embed injects Wishlist Hero into your storefront, so it must be on for the button to appear.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your live theme.
2. In the theme editor sidebar, click the App embeds icon.
3. Find Wishlist Hero and switch on App Configuration.
4. Click Save.

Wishlist Hero also detects when the embed is off and shows an “action required” prompt in the app with a direct link to the theme editor.

3. Add the button with the setup wizard

The guided wizard in Customize Wishlist Appearance walks you through placing the button on product pages in three steps: add the button block in the theme editor, confirm the colors, and confirm the button works.

1. In Wishlist Hero, go to Settings and open Customize Wishlist Appearance.
2. Follow the wizard. Each step deep links into the Shopify theme editor at the right place.
3. On the last step, open a product on your storefront and click the wishlist button to confirm.

4. Add your first item and verify

On your storefront, open any product and click the wishlist button. You should see:

• The “Product added successfully to wishlist” notification popup
• The header wishlist icon count increase, if you enabled the header icon

Then open Activity in the Wishlist Hero app. Your test appears in the feed within moments as an “Added To Wishlist” action.

5. Configure the essentials

Three settings cover most stores on day one:

• Wishlist display: choose whether customers see the wishlist in a popup window or on a separate page in Wishlist display modes
• Sharing: let shoppers share wishlists by social media and email in Wishlist sharing
• Email reminders: notify customers when wishlisted products go on sale or run low on stock in Price drop reminder and Low stock alert

Email reminders are available on Silver plans and above.
