How do I set up price drop reminder emails?

The price drop reminder emails a shopper when a product in their wishlist goes on sale by more than the percentage you set. It is the highest converting email in the app: the shopper already wanted the item, and now it is cheaper. This guide sets it up end to end and then customizes the email.

Available on Silver plans and above.

How it works

  1. A shopper saves a product. The wishlist records the price at save time.
  2. Scheduled checks run three times a day and compare each wishlisted product’s current price with the price the shopper saw.
  3. When the price drops by more than your minimum percentage, the shopper gets the reminder email with the product, the Buy Now button, and your store branding.
  4. The item is marked as reminded, so the same product does not re-trigger at the same price.

Guardrails keep it welcome: a shopper gets at most one reminder email of any type per 24 hours, and only shoppers who were logged in when saving (so the app has their email) receive reminders.

Set it up

  1. Go to Settings > Product on sale & Low stock email reminders.
  2. Switch on Product on sale email reminder.
  3. Set the minimum drop under Send when a product price drops more than ___ % of wishlisted price. The default is 10 percent.
  4. Confirm the Sender Name shoppers will see.
  5. Click Save.

Reminder evaluation starts with the next scheduled check.

Customize the email

On the same page, per reminder type:

  • Subject: the default is “Price Drop on items in your wishlist!”
  • Body: a rich text editor. Keep the ##wishlist_hero_items##  placeholder wherever the product cards should appear; it renders the product grid with images, names, prices, and Buy Now buttons
  • Buy Now button colors: pick the button background and text colors to match your brand
  • Send test email: delivers a sample with example products to your inbox
  • Reset email body: returns to the default template

See Email dynamic variables for the full placeholder list, including currency formatting that follows your Shopify email money format.

Tune the trigger percentage

  • 5 to 10 percent: more emails, more conversions on small discounts. Best for high margin catalogs.
  • 15 to 30 percent: fewer, more urgent emails. Best when margins are tight or promotions are rare.
  • Changing the percentage affects future evaluations only; items already reminded stay reminded until their state resets.

Track the results

Reminder sends appear on the dashboard’s Email Reminders card, and engagement shows in the open rate and click rate cards. See Email reports.
