Why is the wishlist button missing from my store?

Symptom: product pages show no wishlist button, or the button vanished after a theme change. The cause is almost always one of six things, in this order of likelihood. Work down the list; each fix takes under two minutes.

1. The App Configuration embed is off

The embed loads the whole app. Without it, nothing renders.

Fix:

In Online Store > Themes, click Customize on your live theme, open App embeds, switch on Wishlist Hero > App Configuration, and Save.

The app also shows an “action required” banner in its dashboard when this is the cause.

2. The app is disabled or the store is paused

Fix: In the app, open Settings and confirm Enable App is on. Then check the dashboard quota bar: a store that hit its monthly quota pauses the widget until the reset or an upgrade. See Wishlist item quotas.

3. Automatic placement cannot find the add to cart form

Customized themes sometimes hide the form the app looks for, or a quick view app replaces the markup.

Fix: Take placement into your own hands:

1. In the App Configuration embed, tick Disable automatic product button placement.
2. In a product section of the theme editor, click Add app and choose Add To Wishlist Button.
3. Position it and Save.

4. The theme is not detected correctly

Wrong positioning presets can push the button out of view rather than remove it.

Fix: Set Theme styling preset in the App Configuration embed to your theme name, or the closest family. For collection page icons, set the Theme Preset dropdown in the Collections Icon block. See Theme presets.

5. You are on the wrong theme

App embeds and blocks activate per theme. A newly published theme starts bare.

Fix: Repeat the embed and block setup on the theme you actually published. Walkthrough: Installing on multiple themes.

6. The grid loads products dynamically

Infinite scroll and filter apps redraw product cards after the app has run, so cards added later miss their icons.

Fix: In the Collections Icon block, tick Use more eager loading for the icon. If you use a search and filter app, also select it under Search & filter app preset. Full setup: Collection page wishlist icon.

Still missing

Run the verification loop in Verify your installation: window.WishListHero_setting    present in the console is the fastest split between “app not loaded” (fixes 1, 2, 5) and “app loaded but button not drawn” (fixes 3, 4, 6).
