How do I translate the wishlist and show multiple currencies?

Every word shoppers see in the wishlist is editable, and prices follow the shopper’s currency automatically on multi currency stores. This guide covers the storefront texts, the two translation strategies, and how currency display behaves.

Edit the storefront texts

In Customize Wishlist Appearance, open the languages section. You can rename the wishlist itself (“What do you wish to call your Wishlist”) and edit every string shoppers see:

  • Button labels and the remove text
  • The added to wishlist notification and its “View your Wishlist” link
  • Popup and page headings and actions such as Add All to Cart
  • Share popup texts and the login popup message

Non English stores run entirely on these settings: set each string in your language and the wishlist matches your store.

Two translation strategies

The section offers a radio choice for how translations work:

Strategy How it works Choose it when
Support multiple languages using a Shopify translation app Wishlist strings are published to translation metafields that apps such as Shopify’s Translate & Adapt or Weglot pick up and translate Your store sells in several languages
Use the application settings below and/or Weglot The strings you typed are used as is, with live retranslation support for Weglot Your store runs in one language, or you translate with Weglot

With the metafield strategy, each wishlist string is exposed as a translatable record, so your translation workflow treats wishlist text like the rest of your store.

Multi currency display

On stores using Shopify Markets, the wishlist shows each product at the shopper’s presentment currency, using the same conversion rules as the rest of your storefront. Reminder emails compare wishlisted prices in the shopper’s currency before announcing a price drop, so shoppers get accurate sale notices.

Multi currency display is available on Silver plans and above. See Plan restricted features.

The admin interface

The Wishlist Hero admin runs in English, French, German, and Spanish. Switch it from the language menu on the Settings page. The switch changes the app screens only; storefront texts always use your own strings.
