How do I send wishlist events to the Meta Pixel?
Wishlist Hero fires the Meta standard event AddToWishlist whenever a shopper saves a product, feeding your ad optimization and retargeting with real intent signals. This guide turns the integration on and verifies the first event.
Available on Silver plans and above.
How it works
The integration calls fbq("track", "AddToWishlist", …) on the storefront. It requires the Meta Pixel on your pages, which the Facebook & Instagram channel installs; Wishlist Hero adds no second pixel and asks for no pixel ID.
Each event carries:
| Property | Contents |
|---|---|
content_name |
Product title |
content_category |
Product type |
content_ids |
The product ID |
contents |
Product ID with quantity 1 |
currency |
Store currency |
value |
Product price |
content_type |
product |
Enable it
- Go to Settings and open the Meta Pixel integration page.
- Switch on the pixel integration toggle.
- Save.
Verify the first event
- Install Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome extension) and open your storefront.
- Save a product to the wishlist.
- Check the extension: an AddToWishlist event should fire with the product’s content data.
- Cross check in Events Manager > Test Events with your own browser.
Use the event
- Optimize campaigns for
AddToWishlistwhen your goal is building retargeting pools of high intent shoppers - Create custom audiences from the event: shoppers who saved but did not buy are your warmest retargeting segment
- Pair with reminders: shoppers who both saved and joined your email list get the price drop email and your ads; consistent messaging converts
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Pixel Helper shows no event on save | Confirm the Meta Pixel itself is live on the storefront (the Pixel Helper shows the base page view), then hard refresh and retry |
| Event fires without value data | Re-save the setting toggle; the integration sends value in the same call |
| Events in Pixel Helper but not Events Manager | Test Events needs the same browser; match your test visit to the browser you check in Events Manager |
